Role led to stardom
The evening Al Pacino appears in the movie that won him an invitation to take a role in the “The Godfather.” Pacino plays a junkie in the Friday Feature on two,
“Panic in Needle Park.” Made in 1971 when Pacino was 31, it impressed Francis Ford Coppola enough to offer him the role of Michael Corleone in “The Godfather” a year later.
