Boy’s computer feat
PA Tauranga A computer programme devised by a Katikati college pupil, aged 13, is brilliant, says his mathematics teacher, Mr Pat Keenan. Rodger McNab’s software programme, “Sail the Endeavour,” will be marketed overseas, according to a computer company so impressed with the work it has given him a $3OOO model as a gift. In return he will give the Apple company 12 versions of the programme with overseas settings.
Rodger McNab spent 200 hours perfectiing the programme on the school’s computers, outside class time. It is of educational value because playing requires distance and speed calculation, and compass reading.
The computer will be presented to him at the college prize-giving today.
