Archon’s clean sweep
One of the most recent additions to Lyttelton's keeler fleet, A. K. and W. W. Archer’s Davidson 40, Archon, dominated racing in the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club’s events at the week-end. Archon took the first division line honours and handicap double in Saturday’s LytteltonSumner Bay-Pigeon Bay race and also led the fleet home in the return event on Sunday. In the second division, Athenea (R. Forward) picked up line honours on one day to go with a first and a second on handicap, and in the cruising division Mah Jong (J. Robinson) took line honours on both days as well as a third on handicap. The Spencerdesigned Captain Morgan (R. Vickery) took the cruising division handicap honours on both
days. The 32 keelers contesting the events encountered north-east breezes up to 10 knots on both days, ano the wind was sufficiently variable to leave awkward holes which trapped a few entrants.
The two trailer-yachts in their division provided an identical result each day, Coquette (W. Lewis) taking line honours and first on handicap, and Halfn’half (R. Kay and M. Sydow) the handicap second. Results of the LytteltonPigeon Bay race were.— First division.—Line honours: Archon. Handicap: Archon, 1; Rockabye, S. Rose and N.
