Peacock calls for pressure on N.Z.
NZPA-AAP Canberra The New Zealand Government should be told that Australia opposed its proposed anti-nuclear legislation, said the Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Andrew Peacock, yesterday. The Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Bill Hayden, should explore whether a compromise was possible and offer to mediate in the dispute between New Zea-
land and the United States over New Zealand’s refusal to let American nuclear warships use its ports, Mr Peacock said. Mr Hayden is due to meet the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Palmer, this morning. The Acting Opposition Leader, Mr lan Sinclair, also joined the attack, saying the Australian Government should put serious pressure on New Zealand over A.N.Z.U.S.
