Re-percussions

Re-percussion ’B5 is a repeat of last year’s successful percussion concert staged by the Canterbury Percussion Ensemble. Tom Williams has again organised the concert at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre. It will feature his percussion pupils as well as percussionists from Cashmere High School and the Arts Employment Scheme, “Patchwork Quilt” will also play. This duo of Felicity Williams and Judy Gibara

perform experimental music and movement. The music will include that by Bach, Joplin, Fink, Gadd, Herman, Bernstein and Corea and will highlight the “Toccata for Percussion Instruments” by Carlos Chavez. More than 50 performers in eight groups are involved and instruments will include West Indian steel drums. The show begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
