A concert featuring the music of Mozart will be presented in the Catholic Cathedral on Sunday at 3 p.m. David Vine will conduct his own recently formed Academy of St Albans orchestra in a programme which includes the overture to “La finta giardiniera” and the “Symphony No. 1,” the latter work dating from 1764 when Mozart was eight years old. Jillian Bartram, a finalist in this year’s Mobil Song quest, joins the orchestra
for a performance of one of Mozart’s concert arias “Voi avete un cor fidele.” The flautist, Rebecca Steel, is the soloist in the D major flute concerto, and David Vine plays and directs the Piano Concerto No. 12 in A. The chamber orchestra was formed in response to requests by players normally involved in the larger orchestral groups in the city, who felt the need to participate in more intimate music-making on a professional level.
