Electrical workers get 15.5% rise
Electrical workers who work for contractors in Canterbury will get a 15.5 per cent wage increase from January I—the same increase that was negotiated for electrical workers in the rest of New Zealand at the start of the wage round by the New Zealand (other than Canterbury) Electrical Workers’ Union.
Canterbury workers are members of the Engineering Union.
In conciliation talks in Christchurch agreement was reached that allowances be increased 15.5 per cent, with the registration payment of $9 a week increased to $l2 a week. Other allowances which were referred to the Arbitration Court for settlement for the rest of New Zealand’s electrical contracting workers will be passed on also to Canterbury workers.
