No attempted murder
PA Auckland A charge of attempted murder against Brett Stuart Wellm, of Auckland, was dropped yesterday at the start of his High Court trial. Wellm, aged 21, had been charged with the robbery and attempted murder of a Glen Innes baker, Benjamin Edward Humphreys, in
May. He had denied both charges but yesterday pleaded guilty to robbery and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was remanded until December 2 for sentence. The attempted murder charge was dismissed because of insufficent evidence.
