O’Sullivan stable could win Paeroa double

Special correspondent Auckland The O’Sullivan stable looks to have a fine chance

of winning the T.A.B. double at the Paeroa Racing Club’s meeting today with Eastern Joy and the up-and-coming

Waggis. Eastern Joy, rated third on the Three-Year-Old Free Handicap last season, is in

the first leg, the Namco Mile and Waggis in thePrime Minister’s Cup; This will be Eastern Joy’s third start after a winter break. She finished second in the others, at Tauranga on September 21 and Ellerslie on October 12. So her racing has been nicely spaced and she should now be ready for a winning run. At best she runs a slashing 1600 m to wit her performance in the lastt Castlemaine Easter XXXX Stakes. Clackamas retains much of his old speed and fight and he should be the toughest for Eastern Joy to beat. He will probably try to lead throughout. All Belles and Philco are very capable, mares likely to have improved with recent racing. Both won big 1600 m races last season, All Belles the A.R.C. Flag Inns Trophy Race and Philco the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha. Clear Gold, though giving 3.5 kg to Eastern Joy, also has to be strongly considered. He has not won for over 12 months but still commands great respect.
