Abandoned
The Galleon-1 well, 24km off the coast from Shag Point, south of Oamaru, is being plugged and abandoned. The drilling consortium, led by BP Shell Todd (Canterbury) Services, Ltd, said that while tests confirmed the presence of gas and condensate-bearing sandstone, the volume of hydrocarbons was unlikely to be of commercial value.
