NZ dollar steady

PA Wellington Market holidays in Singapore yesterday and in New York today made for quiet trading on the New Zealand foreign exchange market. The New Zealand dollar appeared well-supported at $U50.5830/45 in late trading, almost unchanged from its $U50.5835/50 opening. The trade-weighted Reserve Bank indicative exchange rate index moved little, peaking at 74.5 before easing to 74.4 at 3 p.m., level with its opening. Yesterday afternoon the New Zealand dollar was worth U.5.58.3C, Aust.B7c, 41p, 119.7 yen and 1.52 marks. The Australian dollar weakened in late trading to $U50.6701/15 from $U50.6730/ 40 in the morning.
