Homosexual law changes

Sir,—A. Delhanty’s Biblical interpretation is outdated and confused. “Sodomy” — a term coined by Philo of Alexandria many centuries after Sodom’s destruction — is not “mentioned in Genesis.” Nor is homosexuality. “II Peter ii, 5-6” does not state that “the wicked people at the time of Noah ... also practised sodomy.” It speaks not of homosexuality at all. In fact, the iniquity of Sodom was “pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness” and various deficiencies (Ezekiel 16:49). Moreover, the fate of Sodom was sealed before the two angels had arrived there. Mr Delhanty misquotes my letter. I did not state that the Hebrews began homosexuality following their Babylonian captivity. I stated that they proscribed it. Before then, like men everywhere (except j the Zoroastrians), the Hebrews had practised and honoured it. It is ironic that, today, not the Jews, nor the Judeo-Christians, but natural males behaving homosexually are the ones labelled “different.” — Yours, etc., PAUL MALING. November 5, 1985.
