N.Z. yachts slip
PA Auckland NZI Enterprise has slipped to fourth place, and Lion New Zealand to sixth, according to the latest computer reckoning on the first leg of the round-the-world yacht race. The American yacht Portatan leads the fleet in the Whitbread-sponsored race, with 2210 km to go to Cape Town. She ip followed by the other maxi yachts, Cote d’Or. ÜBS
Switzerland, NZI Enterprise, Drum, and Lion New Zealand. The leading yachts, stretched across a 1000-km front, are closing rapidly. They are sailing under an overcast sky and into moderate southeasterly breezes. Fazer Finland, which is seventh, leads on handicap. NZI Enterprise is seventh on handicap-.and Lion New Zea- , land eighth. J
