Professorial appointment
PA Wellington Dr John Tiffin has been appointed the David Beattie Professor of Communications at Victoria University of Wellington. The chair, the first of its type in New Zealand, is named after the Governor General, Sir David Beattie, who was chairman of the national co-ordinating committee for World Communication Year, 1983. Dr Tiffin, bom in Leeds and Wellington-based, has specialised in communications and education as an adviser on educational television in several African and South American countries, and is regarded as a leading figure in educational television research and development.
