wishing to bum tussock grasslands and/or other vegetation during the 1986 season in those areas where fire permits are required, are reminded that written applications for permits must be forwarded to the undersigned by October 31, 1985. The applications should include: the means of Identifying that area it is wished to burn; the reasons for wanting to burn; the means available to control the fire; and the proposed management after auming. Permits issued for the 1985 season expire on the date shown thereon, and are not valid for the next season. Any permits not exercised may be renewed for the next season only by making written application to the Commission. Applications should be acknowledged within 21 days of receipt. W. B. WALKWAY OPENING OCTOBER 13, 1985 OPIHI RIVER WALKWAY (GORGE SECTION) THE Canterbury District Walkway Committee is pleased to announce that the ,hlrd section of the Oplhi River Walkway will be opened this Sunday, October 13,1985. The walkway runs from the Opihi Gorge Road (approximately 6km south-east of Falrlle) through the gorge to the Rockwood Bridge. The walkway is 13km long and takes 5-6 hours to walk. The opening ceremony will take place at the start of the walkway, in the carpark at the end of the Opihi Gorge Road, commencing at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
