The positions will involve inspections of buildings in course of construction for compliance with Council’s Bylaws; together with inspections of buildings in terms of the Local Government Act 1974, documentation of all inspections for permanent record purposes, checking plans for compliance with bylaws, acts and regulations, initiation of letters or notices regarding any problems with building or sites, and writing technical reports on building and allied work. Applicants must have Trade Certification in carpentry as a minimum qualification and practical building experience in either residental or commercial and industrial work is essential. Communication and administrative skills are also necessary due to the personal contact required with the building industry and the general public. Salary for persons with Trade Certificate will be within the range of $19,308 - $20,269 per annum, and for holders of the New Zealand Certificate Of Building or registered members of the N.Z.
