Nuclear ships policy

. Sir,—Facts are no facts when they are deliberately distorted in support of scurrilous propaganda. B. Roberts evidently knows nothing of the armed forces. Stringent precautions are taken to deal with all communicable diseases and in a • disciplined service are very effective. Given a decent fair-minded approach to the subject, there is no way in which it can be discussed under the heading of "nuclear ships policy ” This is another example of certain elements in our society seeking to confuse the issues for the ordinary citizen. — Yours etc., JOHN S. PALLOT. October 11, 1985.

Sir,—B. Roberts and others have argued the threat of A.I.D.S. as a basis for banning United States naval vessels. On the assumption that it is not just American seamen who indulge in sex, should not their arguments be extended to the banning of all ships from our ports? After that, we can start to worry about the social activities of airline cabin crews. — Yours, etc., W. L. JONES. October 11, 1985.
