Golf tourney for charity
The Canterbury Asthma Society will benefit from this year’s Garden City Golf Classic, sponsored by “The Press,” at the two Harewood courses on November 23 and 24. Proceeds from the annual charity tournament will be used to buy two oxygen concentrators for the society. The units filter out nitrogen and other gases from the air, leaving oxygen for the patient to breathe. The units will go to
chronic sufferers who require a regular daily intake of oxygen. With the help of oxygen concentrators, they will be able to enjoy more freedom in their own homes without the restrictions and problems associated with the large cylinders as used in the past. The tournament, an aggregate stableford event for teams of four, is now in its ninth year. Entries for this year’s event will close on November 18.
