Dr Roger Osborne

Sir, — While commending the fact that you have given space to a report on the important educational research being undertaken by Fred Biddulph (“The Press,” August 27), I point out that Dr Roger Osborne was not just a “fellow researcher,” but the dedicated and multi-talented director of the Science Education Research Unit at the University of Waikato. Dr Osborne died recently as the result of a road accident, and his death has been a major tragedy for educational research both here and overseas. It remains for Fred Biddulph and others who have worked with Dr Osborne to publicise and build on his work. — Yours, etc.,

DOREEN ROBERTS. August 27, 1985.
