Two die on Chch roads
Two men were killed in Christchurch road accidents at the week-end. One was killed in a twocar collision in Burwood. He was Robert Alan Butler, aged 27, of Bealey Avenue, who died when the car in which he was travelling and a police patrol car collided on Mairehau Road, near Burwood Hospital. The accident happened about 11 p.m. on Saturday. Another passenger, Gregory Baird, of 5A Brentwood Street, Parklands, suffered moderate internal injuries. He was in a fairly comfortable condition in Christchurch Hospital last evening. A policeman suffered minor injuries in the accident. The police are seeking witnesses to the accident. A man, aged 52, was killed when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Durham Street and Moorhouse Avenue about 1.30 a.m. on Saturday. His name was not available last evening. The driver of a stolen car was arrested after the car hit a fence at the corner of Worcester Street and Rochester Street at 5.35 a.m. yesterday. Police and Ministry of Transport vehicles were used in a chase of the car.
Four other occupants of the car were questioned by the police but released.
