Museum acquisitions
The Lyttelton Museum has continued to acquire memorabilia from the port area over the last year. The museum’s curator, Mr Baden Norris, listed a number of items in the museum society’s annual report that had been presented or lent to the museum. They include a hand-made cradle, Lyttelton naval relics, a model of the Cutty Sark, several collections of old documents and photographs, and relics from Captain Scott’s ship Terra Nova. During the year a display case and exhibits were installed in the historic Time Ball Station. A burglar alarm was installed, and navigation lights were added to the entrance hall. More than 5000 people visited the Lyttelton Museum in the last year, including many schools and organised groups. ARRIVALS Spirit of Competition (8.10 a.m.), 1600, Wellington (Pacifica).
