Bid for MGM-UA
The cable television magnate, Mr Ted Turner, thwarted last week in his bid to buy the CBS television network, is negotiating to buy the MGMUA entertainment company for SUSI.S billion (SNZ2.BS billion), his company and MGM said. Turner’s bid would amount to SUS 29 ($NZ55.70) a share. Under the proposed deal, Turner must also sell the United Artists division of MGM-UA to Tracinda, a firm owned by MGM-UA’s major shareholder, Mr Kirk Kerkorian.
