Bid to end strike at breweries
PA Dunedin Talks will be held before an industrial mediator in Christchurch on Monday in an attempt to settle a strike by boilermen that has stopped production at Speight’s brewery in Dunedin and the’ Lion brewery in Christchurch. Production at both breweries stopped this week over the introduction of new technology. Although the boilermen have been offered other jobs or redundancy packages, their union considers the main issue still in dispute is the future identity of the trade.
