F.O.L. called in on cabin crew dispute
PA Auckland The president of the Federation of Labour, Mr Jim Knox, yesterday stepped into the Air New Zealand cabin crew dispute about manning the new Boeing 767 aircraft. The president of the airline stewards and hostesses’ union, Mr Brian Pugh, said Mr Knox was asked to intervene after the failure of crew stop-work meetings to rectify an interim agree-
ment on crewing the new plane. Mr Pugh said Thursday’s meetings showed that members were almost unanimous in rejecting the interim agreement without a clause binding it to expire in three months. “We asked the company to include the clause, but they refused,” Mr Pugh said. “We could not get them to shift, so we’ve called in the F.0.L.”
