The Board has a vacancy within the Technical Division for a Technical Officer (Processing) to work on various aspects of fish handling and processing. The duties of the appointee will include provision of advisory services to the Fishing Industry; involvement in liaison between industry and Government Departments, research organisations, etc; assistance in training programmes related to fish handling and quality promotions. J A principal task will involve participation in the development of a quality enhancement programme for the fishing industry, including the development of codes and practice and of product standards. The successful candidate will have experience I in food processing and/or quality control, preferably within the fishing industry. Qualifications in food technology or a related dicipline will be an advantage. | The position is based in Wellington but some travel within New Zealand will be required. A willingness to undertake occasional sea-going duties on board fishing vessels would be advantageous. Favourable conditions of appointment and service are offered.
