Striker slots eight
Duncan Bean’s brace of goals for Nomads United against Frucci Halswell United in Tuesday evening’s Hertz Soccer League match at English Park were sufficient to take him to the top of the individual goalscorers’ list for the season. He has scored three times in the last two matches for Nomads to give him eight in all. His closest pursuers are his talented team-mate, Danny Halligan, the injured Cockram Nissan Shamrock striker, Peter Schuyt, and the ever-dangerous Halswell
attacker, Allan Carville. Having scored once for Nomads in his only appearance to date in the sixth round, Carville switched to Halswell and has shown his considerable striking skills with six goals in eight matches, including five in the last five games. Carville was the outstanding goal scorer last winter, with 15 goals in the league. Tony Steer, Shamrock’s experienced defender, has picked up six goals this season, as has the Hurricane Rangers player, James
Margaritis, although bis tally includes five penalties. Those with five goals are the New Brighton pair, Dion Moir and Andy Daffin, and the Rangers striker, Brent Berry.
On four goals are Drew Hendrie (one penalty), Paul Harrison (both K.L.M. Cashmere); Mike Cowen and Wayne Burt (three penalties, Halswell); Luke Campfens (Nomads); Simon Myers and John Boatwood (Rangers); Steve Neill (Shamrock); and Rab Brown (Woolston W.M.C., three penalties).
