Access to finance
Sir,—Mr Ryburn, southern regional manager of the Development Finance Corporation, seems to have misunderstood my complaint. The point is, regardless of whether the corporation concluded that my proposal was commercially unsound, before it made this decision, that is, when I first approached them, the D.F.C. staff were discouraging and unhelpful. Moreover, a senior representative admitted that their approach was not all that it might have been. I reiterate that those enticed by D.F.C. advertising might not necessarily receive the encouragement that this advertising tacitly offers. — Yours, etc., S. J. SMITH. July 29, 1985.
