Gasworks lots sell fast
Lots in the Moorhouse Park subdivision, on the old Christchurch gasworks site in Moorhouse Avenue, are selling fast. Mr Roger Stark, of Wrightson N.M.A., the firm handling the sale of the 25 lots, said yesterday there were only about six left. They were put up for sale on July 11. Interest in the sites had been high and among the buyers were an Australian company, New Zealand national firms, and Christ-
church firms. Mr Stark said customers had been given information about the possible toxic nature of the site, as a result of the gasworks operations, but that had net caused any undue concern. Most buyers intended to cover the surface of the lots with concrete or asphalt. Mr Stark said the development should prove an asset to Christchurch, as many of the buildings intended for the site would be architecturally designed.
