Bookshop owner robbed of $25

The owner of a secondhand bookshop in High Street was held at knifepoint yesterday morning by a robber who escaped with $25. The police are following strong leads in the robbery, which happened at 11.55 a.m. A police spokesman said the offender spent about 10 minutes in Sara’s Secondhand Bookshop before approaching the owner and drawing a knife.

He held the knife at the owner’s throat and demanded money, then took $25 from the cash drawer and ran from the shop. The robber was chased on foot by the owner for several blocks before being picked up by a car near Manchester Street. He is described as being of mixed blood, with a dark complexion, aged in his mid-20s, about 183 cm (6ft) tall, with broad shoulders. He was wearing brown-col-oured clothes.
