Fire ruins transmitter
PA Dunedin Fire yesterday morning destroyed the transmitter and equipment owned by Radio Station 4XD at Highcliff, on Otago Peninsula. The station manager, Mr Lyndsay Rackley, said the
station would be off the air until alternative facilities could be arranged. The police are investigating. Private radio station 4XD is the oldest continuous broadcasting organisation in the Commonwealth.
