Deaths in mine bring indictments
NZPA-AP Taipei, Taiwan Four men have been indicted on charges linked to a coalmine disaster that killed seven people last month in a mine which the Government had ordered closed after an earlier explosion killed 93 miners, court officials reported. The Haishan Yikeng mine was ordered closed for safety checks after a fire swept through its tunnels in December, killing 93 miners in Taiwan’s second-worst mine disaster. The Government said the closing order had not been lifted but investigators discovered after the latest mishap on June 19 that the mine resumed work in April.
