Smash kills 8
NZPA-Reuter Paris Eight people were killed and 55 injured when the Le Havre-Paris express jumped the rails at high speed and careened into two houses in the centre of the Normandy town of St Pierre du Vauvray. The 12-carriage train was travelling at 160 km/h with more than 500 passengers aboard when it smashed into an articulated lorry that was stranded on an automatic crossing in the town centre.
