Imports resume
NZPA-AFP . London Britain announced yesterday the resumption of imports from Argentina, frozen since Argentina’s occupation of the Falkland Islands in early 1982 and the subsequent Anglo-Argen-tinian war. Britain, the Foreign Office said, considered that Argentina “now has the opportunity to respond to our initiative and thereby to open the way to further steps toward more normal relations between Britain and Argentina.” For the last year- AngloArgentinian ; talks on improving relations have been deadlocked. ?In July last year talks between Argentinian and British officials in Berne, Switzerland, ended in failure because of Britain’s refusal to discuss Falkland sovereignty.
