Former graduate appointed
A Canterbury graduate, Professor D. E. A. Giles, has been appointed to a chair in the economics and operations research department of the University of Canterbury. Professor Giles, who is 36, graduated with a Ph.D. in economics in 1975. He has been professor of econometrics and chairman of the econometrics and operations research department at Monash University in Australia since 1978. He is co-author of a book on econometrics which will be published in New York next year and co-editor of another book about to be published in London. Professor Giles will take up the post early next year.
