University roll up
More students have enrolled at the University of Canterbury this year com-
pared with last year, the University Council heard yesterday. This year 8063 students enrolled, compared with 7886 last year. First-year students totalled 2047 (1948 last year) and there are 520 overseas students (458 last year).
Student numbers in each faculty are: arts, 2627 (2625 last year); science, 1955 (1930); law, 647 (605); commerce, 1243 (1205); music, 97 85); engineering, 895 (864); fine arts, 141 (143); forestry, 107 (106); and education, 351 (323).
