Rate increases
Sir,—So the residents of Merivale are to face a massive rates increase. Yet again those who are considered to be well off are called upon to subsidise others in the community. I am tired of having to part constantly with my hardearned dollars for this reason. I liken the present system of rating on land values to the owner of a Mercedes having to pay more per litre for his petrol than the owner of a Mini. Ludicrous.
