Doctors pleased
PA Wellington Negotiations between the Minister of Health Dr Bassett; and doctors to find a permanent solution to the controversy over child medical benefit subsidies were welcomed by the Medical Association. The two sides will meet on Friday for talks on a different system allowing a new children’s G.M-S. to be extended to all child patients of all doctors. The Medical Association’s chairman, Dr John Broadfoot, said the temporary scheme to be announced today by Dr Bassett to cover children and doctors involved in the child medical benefit subsidy ruled invalid by the High Court, was after all, only temporary. “What we want is a permanent solution. That’s the important matter and we are delighted that Dr Bassett has accepted our invitation for talks,” he said.
