McLeod awaits contract nod
The Converse Canterbury Countrywide men’s basketball league centre-forward, Eddie McLeod, is almost certain to play in France after his contract with Canterbury expires early next month.
McLeod said yesterday that he was waiting to hear confirmation of the European contract from his agent, but was “99 per cent” certain he would play the off-season in France. McLeod first played in France a few years ago and is keen to return. The tall American was named player of the match after the Canterbury-
Exchequer Saints match at Cowles Stadium last Saturday evening. No approach had been made to renew his contract with Canterbury next season, said McLeod, “but I’m keen to come back.” The Canterbury Basketball Association has not discussed the matter of contracts for next season, according to the president, Mr Peter Crowhen. “We’ve never thought of it and, anyway, the first move is up to the coaches (Messrs Darrel Todd and Garry Pettis). “They give the recommendations,” said Mr Crowhen.
