Nat Hall fined
-The Rangiora ownertrainer, Nat Hall, has been fined $lOO on a misconduct charge by a sub-committee of the executive of the Trotting Conference. The charge arose as a result of a phone call Mr Hall made on April 10 to Mrs ' Marjorie Thompson, the wife of a professional trainer and secretary of the North Canterbury Owners, Trainers and Breeders Association. Mr Hall had had a sulky damaged at a trial and had contacted Mrs Thompson for a form which she (quite wrongly as it turned out) refused to give him. Mr Hall then made abusive and insulting remarks to Mrs Thompson including the word "mongrel.” Mr Hall pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $lOO. He was also severely reprimanded. The committee said it took into account the provocation on this occasion.
