Vamoos wins yachting
Southern Fun took line honours in the fourth and final race of the winter Epiglass yachting series held on Lyttleton harbour on Sunday. The over-all winner of the series, organised by the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club, was Vamoos. Twenty-one yachts competed in Sunday’s race, which started in southerly winds of five to 10 knots. The wind later switched to the east and the slower boats were caught in light airs on the wrong side of the harbour. Results: Line honours — Southern Fun (McMillan). Handicap: Rockabye (S. Rose), 1; Aparangi (R. Johnstone and D. Gallagher), 2; Athenea (R. Forward), 3. Over-all - Vamoos (J. Dyksma), 1; Spirit of Pelorous Jack (M. Breen and R. Downes), 2; Truce (D. Kett), 3.
