Shipping news Big shipping exhibition
Technological developments in the shipping industry were discussed at the recent ‘ NorShipping ’B5” conference and exhinition, held in Oslo, Norway. Many executives of the shipping, business, oil, and banking communities attended what has become one of the world s leading shipping exhibitions. Almost 300 exhibitors from 20 countries displayed their wares. Items on exhibit included maritime electronics, communication and navigation equipment, engines, deck gear, and ship building and repairing- , At the accompanying conference, maritime technological developments as well as ways of easing the burden of the shipping crisis were discussed. Thor Heyerdahl, famous for his Kon-Tiki and Ra expeditions, helped to open the conference. He spoke about the importance of the sea as a highway for human communication and cultural exchange. The Nor-Shipping exhibition has been arranged biennially since 1965.
