Bid to lease mansion
The Canterbury Building Centre will apply to the Commissioner of Crown Lands to lease McLeans Mansion. The chairman of the centre’s board of directors, Mr T. I. Smail, said that the board had decided at a meeting on Monday to apply for a lease. He said he preferred not to give any more details of the board’s proposal at this stage. The centre is now housed in a building in Cashel Street, near Madras Street.
