Cabinet discusses crash fire service
PA Wellington The Cabinet has decided that more work is needed on the future of crash fire services at airports, said the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Prebble, yesterday. The Cabinet had discussed a report from the Director of Civil Aviation, Mr Stuart Mclntyre, he said He said he agreed with the Cabinet’s view that more work was needed. He was concerned that the crash firemen and airline cabin crew had approached
his office asking that they be able to make further submissions. "As the two groups are professionals and most closely associated with the issue, this seems to me to be not unreasonable,” he said. Mr Prebble said he was reluctant to release the director’s report because it might create the impression the Government had already made up its mind on the issue. That was not correct, he said.
