Canty-Otago final
Canterbury and the strong Otago side will meet in the final of the South Island boys’ under-16 basketball tournament at Cowles Stadium today. While Canterbury had a close contest with Nelson, winning 61-52, Otago was not pressed to beat Southland, 71-32, in the other semi-final yesterday. The girl’s under-16 final will be contested by Otago and Southland while the Canterbury team will play
off with Nelson to decide fifth and sixth places. Results;— Boys Section play. — Southland 43, Timaru 7; Nelson 65, Buller 26; Otago 68, Twizel 41; Canterbury 80, Mid-Canterbury 62. Semi-finals; Otago 71, Southland 32; Canterbury 61, Nelson 52. Girls Section play. — Mid-Canter-bury 37, Nelson 34; Buller 46, Canterbury 45. Semi-finals: Otago 58, Buller 25; Southland 55, Mid-Canter-bury 44.
