Empress 93
Empress Zita, widow of the last Emperor of AustriaHungary, celebrated her ninety-third birthday and was reported to be in good health. Zita travelled from Zizers, Switzerland, where she lives in a home for the elderly run by Franciscan nuns, to Belgium for a private celebration with relatives. She is the widow of Emperor Charles I, who ruled over 50 million subjects until, after the allied victory in World War I, he agreed to temporarily relinquish his imperial rights. But he never officially abdicated before dying in 1922. — Zizers /
