Taylors Mistake baches
Sir,—With the demolition of baches at Taylors Mistake in 1986, leaving the beach deserted, the Christchurch City Council may have death on their conscience. Surf rescues are reaching colossal proportions. Bach people help, but when they are gone who will help the public? My father built his bach in 1909. He received a Royal Humane Society certificate and gold medallion, and with others founded the first surf life saving club. Our present club followed on diligently. Sir Winston Churchill said: “We will fight on the beaches . . .” We will feel inclined that way if our 30-year-old bach is burned down in March, 1986. — Yours, etc., MARIE DORREEN. May 6, 1985.
