Jury acquits Fulcher
NZPA-AAP Sydney A jury yesterday acquitted a New Zealander, Peter Fulcher, of charges that he robbed a Sydney suburban post office. Fulcher, aged 44, had pleaded not guilty •in the District Criminal Court to a charge that on December 17 last, while armed with a knife, he robbed the Sefton ejstmaster, Alan James unt, and his wife, Janice Hunt, of $ll5O, the property of the Australian Post Office.
After a three-day trial, the jury took 20 minutes to return a verdict of not
guilty. Fulcher's counsel, Mr Charles Goldberg, submitted to the jury that evidence of identification of his client by Mr and Mrs Hunt contained many discrepancies.
When the verdict was announced the Crown Prosecutor, Mr Warwick Gregory. Q.C., told Judge Thorley that Fulcher had been refused bail in another court on extradition matters.
Fulcher is scheduled to appear in the District Court at Waverley on Monday on a provisional warrant from New Zealand
