Goods and services tax
Sir,—l read that the Young Nationals had proposed that prostitution be legalised and licensed on the same day that I read the White Paper on the goods and services tax. There is no question about the trade not falling within the provisions of the White Paper. Invoices could be demanded by customers, setting out the service and the GST involved. The magnitude of the possible revenue would expose an interesting battle between fiscal cupidity and political morality, but we would be elevated by the sight of ’ National as proposers' and
Labour as operators, united at last in the march to complete social degradation.—Yours, etc.,
R. L. LAURENSON. May 5, 1985.
