Urban Cowboy leads
PA Auckland Urban Cowboy (John Dacey), after covering 641 miles, led fellow Aucklander, Richard Melville, by 13 miles in the Auckland-Suva yacht race last evening. Not Guilty (Murray Sleeth, Wellington) was three miles behind Melville’s yacht, Grand Prix.
Conditions suited the 30boat fleet so well that 10 boats exceeded 200 miles in 24 hours.
The officials of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club said a record was unlikely, even if Urban Cowboy reaches Suva on Friday morning.
