Success for Lopez
NZPA-Reuter New Orleans Carlos Lopes, of Portugal, the Olympic men’s marathon champion, won the Crescent City Classic 10kilometre race yesterday in 28 min. 16 sec. Britain’s Wendy Sly, the Olympic silver medallist in
the women’s 3000 m in Los Angeles, finished first among the women in 32 min. 8 sec. Norway’s Grete Waltz, the silver medallist in the women’s marathon in last year’s Olympics, was second in 32 min. and 34 sec.
